Hi! My name is Alexis. I'm currently living in Washington, DC where I work for a US Congressman from New Hampshire, where I am from. I just joined this community, which I was very excited to find. Recently, I lived in Krakow, Poland, where I also went to school for a Masters degree in European Studies. The topic of my thesis was Norway and Iceland and their relationship with the European Union, especially now, after Eastern enlargement. I am so intrigued by Scandinavia in general, in all aspects, but mainly politics and culture, as well as history. I'm mainly interested in Norway and Iceland, but I'm also quite interested in Greenland and the Faroe Islands and their relationship with Denmark!
I'm hoping to go to Norway next year to do a PhD. I'm looking to learn the language, but I am having difficulties doing so, in that I've only found one place in the area that offers classes, but they are extremely expensive. Sooooooo...I bought a book and I am trying to teach myself for the time being!
Really though, I'd love to hear of people's adventures travelling around Scandinavia, as well as their experiences studying there. Also, any advice you might have on how to get there sooner, the possibilty of working and anything else you might know that could help me!
